I thought about the opportunity to touch the same Colosseum as the gladiators and the chance to make orecchietti in a centuries old kitchen, grateful that I can still walk 15,000 steps a day when I need to do so! I was alone, up there on the edge of the sea and yet I was there with all who were not there with me.
It took several attempts to extricate myself from that aging chair inches from the stone, the water and view. The gigantic Mediterranean flora begged me to stay while the waves promised the Apulian seafood feast was still hours away! Perhaps, I thought, I needed just a few more minutes even if I was shivering? Perhaps, I needed to really freeze that moment in time!

Ooooh, what a moment in time for sure. I have just finished Mad Mabel, and our book club met last night to talk about it. But going into the world of a book you can read anytime when you were there immersed in all the history of that place for a moment, I can understand your desire to steep in the experience of just being there and soaking it all up. What a fabulous trip!
