Great Idea: Wishes and Dreams

A fellow blogger and master teacher commented on my post about wishes and dreams yesterday. When I hopped over to her blog this morning, I found that she had already not only been thinking along the same line, she had created an wonderful way to integrate thinking, poetry and art at the beginning of the year.

She used the poem, "On the other side of the door." which I found on this blog
http://enjoy-embracelearning.blogspot.com/2010/03/poetry-friday-on-other-side-of-door.html
by Jeff Moss.

On the Other Side of the Door

On the other side of the door
I can be a different me,
As smart and as brave, as funny or strong
As a person could want to be.
There's nothing too hard for me to do,
There's no place I can't explore
Because everything can happen
On the other side of the door.

On the other side of the door
I don't have to go alone.
If you come, too, we can sail tall ships
And fly where the wind has flown.
And wherever we go, it is almost sure
We'll find what we are looking for
Because everything can happen
On the other side of the door.

-Jeff Moss

And then she made this

which opened to her wishes and dreams

I have started this comment five times over, wishing to say something creative and thoughtful. I realized that simple words might speak the loudest. I really like how our SOL community supports, encourages and inspires. Thank you for the positive feedback to my little idea. I will continue thinking of hopes and dreams.
On a side note: "TERE" in the bottom means "Welcome" in Estonian.

Oh Terje, you are so right about the power of a writing community. And, now I know what tere means! I assumed it meant door in some language but welcome is so much better. It is now in my lexicon.
