On Saturday, this was the Amazon "deal of the day." I LifeSpan Fitness TR800-DT7 Desktop Treadmill

Now, I didn't buy it, but I did stop to look closely at it because my life (as well as lots of you reading this blog) is a little too tied to this computer and I really do need to find a way to incorporate the other aspects of my life at home into the precious few hours I am here! I cook (a little), sleep (a little), clean (very little) and write (more than I cook, sleep or clean)!
Truth be told, I have a wonderful treadmill inches from my computer calling me right now; however, when the novelty of this amazing multitasking device dissipates a bit, and the price becomes a bit more affordable, I'm trading "up" for one of these! I'm figuring, based on the price slide of big screen TVs, computers, and hand held calculators, I will be able to buy this in 2048. It's something to look forward to and dream about while I am slicing next to my trusty old treadmill, the one two steps from my computer, the one that "lets" me sit, think and write while "calling me softly with his song"!

I want one too!! The author John Green uses one (and to me that makes it even cooler)!! I want to say Cindy from the Nerdy Book Club has a home made version. You should check it out! Here's a link to her blog: http://chartingbythestars.wordpress.com/ Happy Writing/Walking! :)
I write when I run all the time. I draft and revise and craft. Once I sit down at the computer it just flows!! I can't imagine typing and running at the same time --I think it would ruin the release I get from running, but you never know. This person, Cindy Minnich made her treadmill/desk. If you can't wait until 2048 you should tweet her. She sent out a picture of it in January. Thanks

I want one too! But only if it is one of those with extra cushioning so I don't hurt my knee. We all have our specific needs. We can always hope that a new version comes up cheaper in the next few years. I could also get a stationary bike with a desk. You gave me ideas!
I remember seeing a home made version on Cindy's blog, too, Anita - glad to see that Michelle's link. What a great idea, right?!
What a great idea, although I'd probably fall when I tried to walk and write at the same time. Then I'd be stuck in bed while my broken leg healed and I could write from bed. I smiled at "I clean (very little)". I was going to clean today on my snow day, but so far, it's not happening. :)
I keep thinking a stair-stepper would let me read at least! That looks fantastic, but I really don't have a space for it (unless I get rid of the desk!) Hope you find a way, Anita. I spend too much time too at this "machine"!
Anita, that looks so cool but I think I'm keeping that separated. Computer and swimming pool. :)
Maribeth Boelts uses a desk treadmill. I believe that's where she writes most of her picture books. It's a great idea!
Yes - this IS a great idea but I am NOT that coordinated. It is smart of you to keep the treadmill and computer side by side, though. Too much of either one and you can go straight to the other.
