#sol20 March 9 "Just" the Flu

Got a text ✔
She has the flu ✔
But how ?
Flu shot ✔
Plenty of fresh air ✔
Healthy diet✔
Plenty of rest ✔
But how ?
High fever ✔
Chills ✔
Positive test✔
Didn't she have it already?
This is Flu A ✔
Another strand of the flu ?
It's very scary ✔
It's hard to watch those we love suffer✔
I wonder
Is this late, hard flu season ?
The price of a warm winter
It's scary ✔
Even if not the virus paralyzing us ✔
Even if it's "just" the flu✔

I'm participating in the March SOL Challenge
With Two Writing Teachers
This was a real slice of my life this weekend.

Oh no! It always feels terrible when you are watching someone else struggle and there is nothing you can do about it. It's never "just" the flu, is it?

This is such a timely topic, especially since the governor of NYS just interrupted broadcast TV. He told us that NYS is manufacturing their own antibacterial product. I love the format of your slice. Hoping for better health soon!

I do hope she's better quickly, I'm sure she'll be fine, but it's good to be able to relax and know for sure...!

It's never easy when our littles are sick. Hoping for a quick recovery and return to good health. I love how you used the checks in your poem.

There's definitely no such thing as "just" the flu! I'm so sorry your little one is sick. We are just barely out of our Flu A haze over here.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

We all do what you did when we become ill. We scrutinize over each movement we've taken, and interaction we've had. This thought process is a checklist and your poem and format takes us right there with you. I'm sorry she's ill. Sending wishes for a speedy recovery and good health.

The worst! It certainly can feel so random when you feel like you have done all you can to prevent it. Iḿ so sorry this was your weekend. Hopefully there was some satisfaction in writing this poem. I do appreciate your structure...clever.
