At the beginning of this challenge,
I was on a ledge
A dangerous but exciting place.
There was ice,
I could slip
Fall to the abyss,
I threw caution to the wind.
Now,
The sun in stronger,
The ice has melted,
I feel stronger and safer.
In this new season of my life,
I doubt I'll head back.
Students
Beware
I'm challenging you
To write every day.
So you, too, will learn
To be a writer

I'm glad you took that chance on writing, and I'm glad you're going to challenge your students to do the same. I'm not sure who said it, but I love this quote:
"Write. It's good for you."
Have a great day!

Nice! I love that visual, too - that's exactly how it feels, right?
You are right on...it was very scary to take on tis challenge for many reasons. Beautifully written!
You captured in a succinctly beautiful poem how I think many of us first time slicers have felt. I am much more open now to writing - whether it is any good or not. I am also much more excited to teach writing.
You are so great at describing how it feels to be doing this challenge. It does bring new exciting to the writing journey...thanks for sharing!
I love how you shared your fear, but then extended your hand in the next breath to challenge your students! We learn so much from when we try first!
Challenging your students. Wonderful. I so love your poem.
