#Slice of Life 2013 Sunshine After Snowy Days

We live 30 minutes from the nearest gym or track and so, for exercise, on weekends, we go for long walks, outside, whenever weather permits.  While some might feel sorry for us "having" to walk along the side of the road, put those thoughts to rest.  We're the lucky ones!  On this magnificent Sunday afternoon,

We saw piles of snow
Shrinking as we walked past
Yielding readily to March's sunshine.
We saw snowmen,
Leaning and then succumbing
Aging as we walked past
Returning to the earth in March's sunshine.

We heard woodpeckers at work,
Banging beaks into dead trees
Preparing for spring families.
We saw bubbling creeks at play
Gurgling over rocks,
Dancing through ice covered tunnels,
Winter giving way to spring.
It might have been the dancing music lingering in my head after last night's wedding, but I almost thought I heard the wind singing through the trees (cue up the Temptations My Girl music track) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P1x7Yy9CXI

We've got sunshine,
After snowy days,
Put on sneaks and sweats,
Outside, you gotta play!

We've got sunshine,
Still some snow
But there are clear signs
Sunshine....
Ssunshine....
After snowy days....

Creative and playful. I love the song. Makes me want to dance this early Monday morning. Spring IS in the air!

I love how you heard music and then wrote your poem to it. I need a bit of sunshine in Illinois...super tired. xo

I'd rather go outside for a walk than go to a gym any day!

I agree with Katie - being outside is much more exciting to me than being in a gym!

Sunday was a beautiful day, and you captured it perfectly in this poem. My favorite lines in you poem are "Banging beaks into dead trees Preparing for spring families. We saw bubbling creeks at play Gurgling over rocks, Dancing through ice covered tunnels, Winter giving way to spring." So wonderfully vivid.

My post for yesterday - forgot to post and link it to TWT - Slice of Life.

It must be that beautiful weather that put you in the dancing mindset, because it did it to me, too! Whether dancing in the snow or dancing in the classroom, the onset of spring sure does make a all a bit giddy!
