#Sliceof Life 2013 #13/31 Regrets, I have a just a few....

Yesterday, one of our SOL bloggers wrote about living life with "no regrets."   I must admit I have TRIED HARD to live life through the "no regrets" lens saying "yes" more often than "no: and and trying to "live my life without regrets" since my younger brother, seemingly out of the blue,  was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few years ago.  In honor of the life he would have wanted to live, I embrace the perspective that we have only one shot at life and we can "worry through it or we can live it fully."

Yet, I do have a few regrets from my "pre-no-regrets-years."
  • I wish I had let my child ride the teacups at Disneyland back when she was 4.  I know the line was interminable and she was exhausted and would have probably thrown up, but it would have saved years of hearing about it every time we saw a ride anywhere.
  • I wish I had "let" my child have both a baby brother and a dog of HIS own so that he would have had ready playmates and control over others.  I know that the brother of his dreams would probably have had NO interest in playing endless baseball and that HIS own dog would have been MY responsibility in a heartbeat; however, I would not have to hear about it every time he sees some one's dog or younger brother!
  • I should have gotten a diesel fuel car years ago.  With all the gas I'd save, my progeny could have had fuel to drive until their own old ages!
  • I wish I had: exercised more, eaten less, traveled more, cleaned less, eaten out more, cooked less, smelled the flowers more, weeded less, smiled more and sweat the small stuff less.

When we put words to the regrets, we can put them behind and live beyond them... I hope.

I loved that last one...weeding less and smelling the flowers more is just a better way to live one's life!

Your list left me wanting to hear more of each story! I am sorry about the sudden loss of your younger brother. How difficult that must have been.

To live without regrets is freeing, yet so difficult to accomplish!

How relatable this topic really is. Yet, with all of the regrets, there is still so much that we HAVE done. I bet that list would have been even longer...

I have to remember to "clean less" in the near future. Hopefully I will then have less regrets as well:))

This post is a great reminder to smile more and sweat the small stuff less! Thank you for that.
