Bright, Bold, Belligerent SOL2 #Slice2013

There were still 74 minutes on the clock
(not that I was counting)
When that bright, bold ball started to bug me,
Forcing me to look at him and notice his brilliance.
While I knew his presence
Meant a clear day ahead,
He continued to mock me.

I tried to get the last precious moments
In a horizontal position.
He became increasingly belligerent
I pulled layers of blankets over my head.
Yet, the bold pod
Continued leering at me
Lusting for me to notice him.

He was still there when his cohort in crime,
With a bold, belligerent bellow
Forced me into a vertical postiion.
He leered at me
As I jumped into the shower.
He laughed at me
As I manuevered down the driveway.
 I'll be back, he sneered.

Yet, I knew better.
While he could sneak into my bedroom
Find his way into the bathroom.
Overshadow my commute,
Only I knew the forecast
"Heavy cloud cover"

Dr. Ferreri, this is great!

I am so mad at myself - I wanted to do the SOL challenge but forgot to write yesterday. D'oh!

Don't beat yourself up for what you did NOT do....focus on what you DO do....easier to say than to do...but I work on that every day!

The sound - the hard b's - punch at the reader as the sun punched you out of bed. The shape, too, is fabulous - there are some clouds pushing in already on the sides of the orb. I guess that is some foreshadowing (no pun intended). I am daunted to think of measuring up in my writing when you can dash this off as a "slice."

Very cool perspective! I love the way you slowly revealed your topic and of course, the ending. I guess you win after all!

Very fun, Anita. I have to admit, it took me several readings, but what fun it must have been to write. Thanks for a smile!

This would be such a fun piece to use with students. I have to know--is the cohort in crime your alarm clock?
