"You deserve flowers," I thought as I skipped out of the building grabbing some yellow tulips near the door.
"I looked over all the lab reports and data from the last year. I have to say you are stable,!" she smiled before she added a few ifs, ands and buts about returning....
"My blood pressure is going to be through the roof," I thought as I waited for what seemed to be an eternity but really was just the status quo for doctors' offices.
"Show me the way," I told Google Maps and headed to the appointment, thinking about every possible excuse I could and dreading the imminent scolding.
"I'm thinking spring," I thought as I donned a light weight top, even though it was snowing last night, hoping the cheerful colors would brighten my mood!
"I'll take that appointment," I said very reluctantly to the person inquiring when I was going to come back to see this doctor, as I was overdue.
"I hope time will help," I steamed as I exited the glass monolith, not agreeing with her, in my opinion, aggressive, plan.
"I don't see any way around it," the doctor said shaking her head. "You are going to have to have to at some point, but take a few weeks to think it over!"

Yes, flowers and every good thing. May the Lord bless you to overflowing with the desires of your heart. Too many of these 'appointments' for colleagues and friends in the last few weeks.
Visiting the doctor DOES bring a range of emotions -- dread, delay, interminable waiting, breath holding, relief usually -- you capture all the feelings in such an engaging manner. Thank you for sharing. I feel you!
I like how you structured this piece around quotes during your day. Always start with a bundle of flowers. That can make any dreaded news feel happier.
Anita,
It sounds as though you had some bad news. Your assessment of some doctors is spot on. I have found—after lots of effort—a group of doctors I’m very comfortable with, and I wish that for all of us, especially as we age, Itschard talking to those who haven’t had the aging problem. Now treat yourself to more tulips.
I do believe that some doctors did not do well on the bedside manner course they took. It is not so much what you say as how you say it. The older I get the more I dread doctor visits. arjeha
"You deserve flowers!" Isn't that the truth! All the uncertainty, the frustration of your experience, brings the reader in. The "glass monolith" for some reason, speaks volumes as a detail...cold, almost impenetrable despite the glass suggesting otherwise. And clothing, bright colors, as an anecdote to the snow outside and a talisman, maybe? You are wearing spring, bringing your warmth, your optimism with you. "Doctors," my husband said yesterday, "how can you trust them?"
I am wondering if this is a Before That.....does it read from bottom to top and there is a good report? I hope so~ hugs and good vibes.
Yes, it reads best from the bottom! Should have said t h a r
Anita!
Ugh, I hate going to the doctors as well. I never felt comfortable going, even hospitals, cause I always felt judged. I also hate the long waits cause it just made things feel so much more worse.
Sending you all the positive vibes!!
