Looked longingly at heads piled high,
Wanted to grab them, but let out a sigh,
88 cents called me, I grabbed pricier food,
Thoughts of chef salad and BLTs collude,
$4 zucchini, $7 chard,
Can be cooked, raw is barred.
Not a chance for a salad bowl,
Bye bargain lettuce and bankroll.

Anita, great use of rhyme and alliteration. I especially like your last time: "Bye bargain lettuce and bankroll".
Great way to use current events!
When is a bargain not a bargain. Great poem. Timely. arjeha
The image of "heads piled high" makes me crave a huge, crunchy salad.
Loved your grocery store rhymes that express my sentiments exactly!
Anita,
Ugh! We should be enjoying salads this summer, but this freaking admin prefers to make us sick! I’ll be eating lots of cucumbers dipped in ranch.
