I stopped by, early,
To drop off overdue books,
To pick up a request.
It was windy and cold,
In spite of the late March sun.
There was a line!
I expected one at the bakery,
Not one at the library!
It took a few seconds,
Then,
I remembered the give-away,
"Prepare for it," they say.
"It's coming!"

I was so curious from your teaser why there would be a line. hope you jumped in the line and got the give away!In certain areas it is going to be a crazy April 8th!
Guess I need to get April 8 on to my calendar! Gotta love any reason for a line at the library!
I went last weekend, and it was a line to vote. I went around the line to the other door, and the folks were like, "oh! you're here to actually USE the library." I found it odd that they didn't think people USE the library. lol
I am in the path of "totality" and there will most definitely be lines and frenzied waiting!!
I went yesterday to the library to return a book, renew 2 others and pick up one-pair-per-household solar eclipse glasses. There was no line but a whole table set up about the eclipse. I wonder if it will really be visible here on Long Island, outside of NYC.
Great teaser.
I've only seen a line at the library in the children's section on a Saturday. I noticed how you carefully used commas in this poem and it is both playful and joyful!
