February 8: I/We/You Should Know That

This weekend is packed full of events that fill airway There are a million news stories of victories and losses that commingle with news of outrageous insults. I/we are/you should be reminded that our words are powerful and can change the direction of our/other's lives/your life I am confident I am not alone in my outrage of racist, sexist, and human degrading remarks. We all matter.

Our words matter
When we erase, deny
They linger, fester
Growing anyway
We cannot take them back.

Our tone matters
When we threaten with words
They hurt, causing wounds
Festering forever
We cannot take them back.

We all matter
You should know that
Our gender, skin, family origins
Strengths, limitations, wealth
We all feel, agonize, anger
Hurt when attacked
You should know that.
