I signed up:
- reluctantly for a timeslot right smack in the middle of the day requiring me to stay two hours after swim and eliminating pickle ball that day.
- because they only accept only 6-8 people per 10 week session and I had been been waitlisted 3 times.
- in support of someone I know who is doing the dreaded rehab that I want to avoid as long as possible.
I tried to:
- lift weights into space, slowly with correct form way too many times
- pull that bar from way up over my head until it was way down below my navel.
- push that weighted plate with until my abs were crying for me to stop
- balance some ball left over from defunct Lamaze classes behind my back as I squatted against the wall
After, I
- felt muscle, joint, ligament, fiber, corpuscle in my body crying for relief
- was exhausted and tired in that way you might be if you ran a marathon
- was thinking that I was in far worse shape than I thought I was in that morning
- was reflective on the challenges of rehabbing one's body
- was grateful I could walk out on my own even if I was headed for a hot shower and Tylenol
- was praying for those whose challenges are greater than my own

Love your title: "Bone -Up." And love the structure. This was an inspiring reading for me. What I keep hearing over and over again is that "we don't move enough." And "if you want to protect your brain, exercise more!"
I thought the structure worked really well with what you wrote. I especially liked your last points - so good to remember to move more.
I love your structure—it matched the tone of this piece perfectly as we moved through it one detail at a time. I admire your willingness to try tough things—hopefully the gain soon outweighs the pain!
Anita, I love this workout list poem. I felt like I was right there in class with you. Good for you for trying something new and hard and for thinking of others.
Anita, your title and inserts give me incentive to go to PT tomorrow even though Ikeep sneezing (cold or allergies???).Bone-Up is your word of the week. Stick with it.
Ouch! Good for you for all the reasons you did this! Thanks for a concise description of all you did - and the suffering that followed. I hope you are feeling better - and stronger - by now.
